I think Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson are hilarious, but Vaughn doing the whole "Shit I Talk Fast and Say Cutting Remarks That You Might Not Even Fully Comprehend The First Time" routine, combined with Wilson and his little "Wait What? You're Crazy and Over-The-Top But I'll Say Cute Things To You, A Platonic Male Friend, That Are Usually Reserved For Females! See? I'm Also A Little Crazy!" shtick gets real old after a while.
Think about the footage you've seen so far of Jackie Moon, lead character in the upcoming "Semi-Pro". You can't tell me that Will Ferrell's same old gag isn't getting a little played out. He's basically never stopped playing Ron Burgundy, he just gets different wacky haircuts that are HILARIOUS.
Same thing with VV and Wilson. They need some fresh roles. Maybe get into some teary eyed drama.
Bippity boppity. A change of pace would be nice, but can they pull it off? They have their shtick, and it sells. This begs a bigger question. To be a great actor, is it necessary to play different roles? Nicholson's dont come along very often.
Hypothetical: LeBron would be the best wide receiver in the NFL (if he trained for the position). Would it be neat to see him try a new role and switch sports?
